TRI Commercial, Corfac International Align Interests

SAN FRANCISCO-The 90-broker Bay Area real estate services firm re-gains the national and international alliance it previously had with Oncor International while Corfac fills a two-year-old void in its US coverage.

SAN FRANCISCO-Locally based TRI Commercial Real Estate Services Inc. has aligned with Corfac International, an Arlington, VA-based independent alliance of commercial real estate firms with offices in 140 markets worldwide. TRI has 88 brokers in San Francisco, Oakland, Walnut Creek, Roseville and Sacramento. For TRI, the move provides the national and international affiliations it has been formally without since it left Chicago-based Oncor International in August after more than 15 years. For Corfac, the alliance fills a void in its coverage area that has existed for more than two years. “This fills us out in California and gives us an extremely strong presence,” Corfac president Todd Payne tells GlobeSt.com. TRI senior vice president Ken Sproul tells GlobeSt.com that Corfac is a better fit for TRI than Oncor. “We feel Corfac has stronger companies in California for us to be associated with, and we had issues with how Oncor was structured,” says Sproul. Specifically, Sproul says he did not like the fact that Oncor-affiliated companies had overlapping territories in the Bay Area. “I still have friends (at Oncor), but feel Corfac is much more egalitarian,” he says.When TRI was affiliated with Oncor, it shared its Bay Area territory with Cornish & Carey Commercial. C&C continues to be affiliated with Oncor, and now is the organization’s exclusive Bay Area provider. Oncor executives could not be reached Thursday for comment; they are attending a retreat in Monterrey, Mexico, according to a receptionist.
