SEATTLE-The Denver-based flavored malt beverage company Mike’s Hard Lemonade this week announced plans to relocate its headquarters to the Washington Shoe Building in Pioneer Square. A lease has yet to be signed with the building owner, Samis Land. Co., but the two have agreed to terms, according to published reports. April is the expected move date. The 6-year-old company employs about 90 people nationally, but just one person from its 15-person Denver headquarters is making the move. The company expects to hire some 30 people to fill out its new headquarters initially and expects to grow to 50 over the course of the next year. The 73,000-sf, six-story Washington Shoe Building has about 17,000 sf available, including about 7,500 sf on the fifth floor, which would be enough space for about 30 workers. There’s another 5,000 sf on the fourth floor that would accommodate the company’s expected growth to 50 employees. The leasing broker for the building was not immediately available Thursday for comment. The full-service asking rate for space in the building is $18-24 per sf per year. Existing tenants include Gibson Guitar, Virage Logic and the architecture firm of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen.Anthony von Mandl, founder of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and chief executive of Mark Anthony Group, the parent company, says he is moving the company to Seattle because it has the creative employees it wants to hire and because the city is one of the biggest buyers of its “malternative” products.
