170,000-SF Former Tableware Distribution Center Sells

HAGERSTOWN, MD-The Hagerstown Distribution Center, the former 170,000-sf home to fine china and crystal manufacturer Lenox, has found a new owner in BPG Properties Ltd. The warehouse was acquired from Lenox on behalf of BPG Investment Partnership VI LP, a $384-million equity fund sponsored by Philadelphia-headquartered BPG, in a $5-million transaction. Completed in 1989, the facility occupies a 15-acre parcel at 16604 Industrial Blvd. that offers room for development of an additional 100,000 sf.

The tableware manufacturer had left the warehouse vacant following its 2004 relocation to a new 500,000-sf property in Hagerstown’s nearby Hunters Green Industrial Park. For BPG, the purchase allows the company to make its debut in the coveted Hagertsown Industrial Market, where the likes of Atlanta-based Home Depot chose to open a 450,000-sf distribution center and then expand into the entire 820,000-sf facility in January.
