TROY, MI-A plan to build a baseball stadium here to accommodate a minor-league team may not be dead yet, even though the city council turned down the proposal in January. General Sports and Entertainment was rejected in a plan to place the stadium on city-owned land next to the Civic Center complex.

GSE says now, though, that it is still considering building a stadium in order to bring a team to metro Detroit and that Troy remains on the list of possible locations. GSE did not state an exact location in Troy.

“I expect to make a decision on where to build the stadium within the next 30 days, but Troy is one of the finalists,” says Andy Appleby, owner of General Sports and Entertainment. Appleby says he’s also looking at sites in four other communities across Metro Detroit, but wouldn’t name them.
