Tampa-based Horizon Bay Retirement operates the independent and assisted living facility at 145 N. Milwaukee Ave. under a long-term lease with Orlando-based CNL Retirement Properties, Inc. The four-story building's attraction is the six-story rain forest, where conditions are a constant 72 degrees and 50% humidity. Besides a quarter-mile walking path, the rain forest includes more than 5,000 trees and shrubs. In addition to the 175,000-sf building, the collateral includes nine acres near a Lake County forest preserve.
