Following a lengthy permitting process with the city's planning and zoning commissions, N&P is now completing construction drawings for final approval before the 34-unit project breaks ground. The developer, which primarily focuses on residential development within Route 128, consists of brothers Peter and Nick Zagorianakos of Newton, who selected the site for the project largely because of its location.
"The Union Square area is starting to catch fire, because of its close proximity to Boston and Cambridge," Peter Zagorianakos tells GlobeSt.com. "The Somerville market now is an active and fluid market."
The 34 loft-style units will consist of two bedrooms with one or two baths, and will range in size from 1,150 sf to 1,400 sf. The spaces will feature high ceilings, seven-foot windows, a large Italian-style kitchen leading to open space and hardwood floors throughout. A portion of the building will be demolished to make way for parking. Pricing has not yet been determined.
Philip K. Burgess, president of Burgess Properties represented the seller, while N&P was represented by Sam Hawkey and Rob Grady of the Dartmouth Co.
