DENVER-It's the answer to a 15-year-old dream for many--Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc. will finally open one of its stores in the tony Cherry Creek shopping Center. Nordstrom Inc. signed a letter of intent with Taubman Centers Inc., owner of the one-million-sf center.

Nordstrom will take over space previously occupied by May Co.'s Lord & Taylor department store. Nordstrom at Cherry Creek will be two levels and approximately 120,000 sf. The store is tentatively scheduled to open in the fall 2006. Nordstrom at Cherry Creek will be the retailer's third full-line store in Colorado. The other two are in Park Meadows in Douglas County and FlatIron in Broomfield.

"We couldn't be happier with the reception we have received from customers here since we opened our first Denver area store at Park Meadows in 1996, and this provides us the opportunity to more conveniently serve customers in the Cherry Creek area," says Erik Nordstrom, executive vice president of full-line stores for Nordstrom. "Adding in the high number of out of town visitors to this area, we simply believe that Cherry Creek Shopping Center is the perfect spot to expand our presence in and around Denver."

"We are thrilled to have Nordstrom join Cherry Creek's premier line-upof boutiques and restaurants," says Robert Taubman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Bloomfield Hills, MI-based Taubman Centers, Inc.

Cherry Creek Shopping Center is about three miles from Downtown. It houses 160 shops, including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Foley's and more than 30 stores that are unique to the Rocky Mountain region. Cherry Creek is one of the city's top tourist attractions. Experts tell GlobeSt.com the Nordstrom at Cherry Creek will bring new and well-heeled shoppers to the already hot shopping district.
