At the end of the fourth quarter of 2004, the vacancy rate was about a half-percentage point lower, at 13.4%. The overall southeast Michigan inventory of existing industrial buildings stood at 13.6% vacant, Signature says, a decrease of two-tenths of a percentage point from the end of 2004.
In Macomb County's most heavily industrial city, Warren, 3.4 million sf of industrial space is open, a 12.7% vacancy, which represented a slight improvement. Warren, Sterling Heights and Mount Clemens also saw small increases in the amount of industrial space occupied in the report. Chesterfield, Clinton, Shelby, and Macomb townships and Fraser and Roseville showed small decreases in vacancy.
