Starkey Labs Opens 100,000-SF Center

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-The $12-million center is part of the custom hearing instrument maker's headquarters campus. Gavic Construction of Hudson, WI built the center.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-Starkey Laboratories, a major manufacturer of custom hearing instruments, is opening a 100,000-sf facility here that will also be home for several Starkey companies. After a year of construction, the William F. Austin Education Center was recently completed at 6415 Flying Cloud Dr. and will have its grand opening April 28.

The general contractor was Gavic Construction of Hudson, WI. The project cost is about $12 million, says Jerry Ruzicka, president of Starkey Labs.

The new center is the latest addition to the Starkey headquarters business campus in Eden Prairie, a 40-acre site with space totaling about 350,000 sf of building space. The facility is currently staffed with 350 people with initial capacity of 500, Starkey officials say. Additional warehouse space can be converted to employee needs bringing the total facility capacity to more than 700.
