Alter Building Nearly 2M SF Near Peru

SKOKIE, IL-The developer unveils plans for its 1.8-million-sf Peru Logistics Park on 100 acres near the intersection of I-80 and I-39. Incentives include property and sales tax abatements as well as discounted municipal electricity.

SKOKIE, IL-Alter Group has unveiled plans for its 1.8-million-sf Peru Logistics Park on 100 acres near the intersection of I-80 and I-39, which increasingly is becoming a desirable crossroads for “high-velocity” distribution operations. “The park is within one-day truck access of 50% of the nation’s industrial economy, while one-third of the national GDP is created within 500 miles,” notes company president Michael J. Alter.

Although it is 90 miles from Chicago, Peru Logistics Park is being built 35 miles south of the Union Pacific intermodal facility in Rochelle as well as 45 miles west of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe intermodal facility in Elwood. In addition to its location, potential users could get property and sales tax abatements, as well as money for job training, according to Alter Group. Municipal electricity is at rates 20% less than Illinois Power or ComEd charges, the company adds.
