McShane Construction expected to finish the JIT sequence center in October. Although the cost of the new distribution center was not disclosed, sources tell GlobeSt.com the project, being built on 39 acres, is approximately $13 million.

The state's financial support is contingent on the automaker creating 1,000 new jobs and maintaining them for 10 years. The JIT sequence center being built by McShane Construction is expected to create about 500 of those jobs. It also brings the return of a second shift at the Belvidere plant, which has been in operation for 40 years.

The distribution center will be 850 feet by 36 feet, with 25-feet ceiling heights and 105 truck docks. The sequence center will be linked to the assembly plant. Executive vice president Mark T. Tritschler, project manager Keith W. Borgstrom and project superintendent Steven D. Stringfield will oversee the project. Archideas, Inc. is the architect.
