Chrysler Adding 500,000-SF Distribution Center

BELVIDERE, IL-The automaker's just-in-time sequence center, being designed and built by Rosemont-based McShane Construction Corp., is part of a $419-million upgrade of its body shop, paint shop and assembly area.

BELVIDERE, IL-Rosemont-based McShane Construction Corp. is designing and building a 500,000-sf just-in-time distribution center on Chrysler Group’s 280-acre campus on Interstate 90 near Belvidere Road, part of the automaker’s $419-million upgrade of its body shop, paint shop and assembly area. The state is providing the DaimlerChrysler unit with $36 million in tax credits and other incentives.

McShane Construction expected to finish the JIT sequence center in October. Although the cost of the new distribution center was not disclosed, sources tell GlobeSt.com the project, being built on 39 acres, is approximately $13 million.
