ABERDEEN, MD-Area residents and visitors to the three-year-old Ripken Stadium will have more things to do now that the neighboring 46-acre parcel has been snapped up for the development of a new mixed-use center with a sports motif. Nottingham Properties is behind the project and spent $4.2 million to purchase the land next door to the minor-league baseball stadium from the City of Aberdeen.

The transaction had been delayed due to a competing bidder’s contesting in Harford County Court of the city’s decision to sell the property to Nottingham. The developer expects to spend $65 million to complete the project, which will feature retail, entertainment and residential offerings.
