Channel 2 will have a street-level studio overlooking Daley Plaza to the west, much like Channel 5 has at NBC Tower in the East Loop and Channel 7 plans to have about two blocks away at 190 N. State St. WBBM-TV also gets its own address in the project--2 W. Washington St.

Still to come, though, is the first lease for some of the 400,000 sf of retail space that is the centerpiece of Arlington, VA-based Mills Corp.'s plan. "The agreement with CBS 2 Chicago, which is indicative of the strong progress we've made in our ongoing leasing negotiations, will be the first of many we sign with other tenants for this project," promises Mills Corp. executive vice president of development Steven J. Jacobsen.

Meanwhile, the redevelopment agreement between Mills Corp. and the city has been introduced in the city council, which is expected to approve ordinances next month. Mills Corp. plans to begin construction later this year on the retail portion of the development, which also includes 400 to 600 multifamily and hotel units, as well as Channel 2's space.

Channel 2's current location is at 630 N. McClurg Ct., scene of the first Kennedy/Nixon debates in 1960, is on the market.
