ST. PAUL-JLT Group Inc. was expected to begin reserving spots Saturday for its massive Bridges of St. Paul redevelopment project on 75 acres of the West Side Flats bounded by Wabasha Street, US 52 and Plato Boulevard. Local developer Jerry Trooien has unveiled plans for up to 4,000 residential units and 600,000 sf of retail space, as well as theaters and several public attractions that would be part of this urban village.

The project is expected to take up to 10 years to complete, and it will cost about $1.5 billion. A centerpiece for the project will be a 300,000-sf cultural center called “Mythica: The Center for World Mythology and Human Journey.” Trooien’s proposed retail, residential and entertainment complex across the Robert Street Bridge from Downtown will try to evoke an “Old World” feel by using brick-and-stone construction.
