Developer Planning 60-Unit Seniors Housing Complex

THE WOODLANDS, TX-Accessible Space Inc. plans to break ground in September on the three-story, 46,709-sf Tangle Brush Villa. HUD kicks in a $3.9-million subsidization for the project, all one-bedroom, 540-sf units. Delivery is planned for summer 2006.

THE WOODLANDS, TX-A St. Paul-based nonprofit developer is planning to build 60 units of affordable housing for low-income senior citizens. Construction will begin in September.

Tangle Brush Villa will rise as a three-story, 46,709-sf project on 3.6 acres near the intersection of Tangle Brush and Glen Loch drives. Developer Accessible Space Inc. is teaming with Bay Area Rehabilitation Center Inc. of Baytown for its second development in the Woodlands. The St. Paul affordable housing group acquired the land from the Woodlands Development Co.

The 540-sf, one-bedroom units will deliver in summer 2006, according to Ken Berry, a marketing specialist with Accessible Space. He says the project costs are still being fine-tuned. However, Accessible Space obtained $3.9 million in HUD subsidies to develop Tangle Brush Villas, designed by Holcomb, Musemeche & Associates Inc. of Houston. A general contractor decision is pending.
