"Weil Gotshal is relocating to ensure the maintenance of office continuity on a long-term basis," says Newmark's Aaron Katz who represented the tenant alongside colleagues Pat Nalls and Tony Gould. Financial terms of the firm's lease have not been disclosed. However, real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle, which handles leasing at the building on behalf of owner TIAA-Franklin Square LLC, markets the office space for $20 to $35 per sf, triple net.

Developed in 1989, the 12-story Franklin Square is located just a few blocks from the White House. Among Weil Gotshal's new neighbors will be fellow law firms Davis Polk & Wardwell; and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, which occupies 43,000 sf.
