The University of Phoenix was one of the first tenants to commit to space in Stapley Center when it was completed in 2000, says Karsten Peterson, a senior vice president with Trammell Crow Co.'s Phoenix office. He, Dave Seeger and Mark Gustin, also in TCC's local office, represented the owner, Dallas-based Invesco Realty Advisors. The University of Phoenix uses the 1620 S. Stapley Dr. building for administrative offices and classrooms.
A source familiar with the deal tells GlobeSt.com that the university had two years left on its lease when it decided to renew and take down more space. The university now occupies the first and second floors of Stapley Center, a 272,000-sf, three-building complex. The deal takes occupancy to 90%, according to Peterson.
