Real Estate Heavyweights Dispel Bubble Concerns at Milken Conference

BEVERLY HILLS, CA-A panel of commercial real estate's movers and shakers, led by Equity Property's Sam Zell, shoot down concerns over a looming housing bubble at the star-studded event. While home prices continue to soar, strong demand drives the booming sector.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA–The three-day Milken Institute Global Conference 2005, which culminates today at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, has enjoyed more than 2,500 attendees and the glittering allure of multiple Nobel Prize winners, former vice president Al Gore and Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corp. However, for two hours yesterday, a panel of real estate power players, led by Sam Zell, chairman of Chicago-based Equity Group Investments LLC, held center stage.

Billed as “Real Estate: Investing for the Future,” the panel discussed and debated industry issues including the potential housing bubble, global investment, the weakening dollar, office vacancy rates and tourism recovery post 9/11.

Joining Zell on the panel were Larry Mizel, chairman and CEO of Denver-based MDC Holdings Inc.; Bruce Karatz, chairman and CEO of Los Angeles-based KB Home; and Barry Sternlicht, chairman and CEO of White Plains-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.
