Beaver Creek Crossings, on 131 acres, will be located near the intersections of US Highway 64 and North Carolina Route 55 in Apex, which is about 15 miles west of Raleigh, NC. The center will be near Beaver Creek Commons, a 475,000-sf DDR center, which is anchored by Linens 'n Things, Lowe's, OfficeMax, PetSmart and Target and opened last year.
Connecting the two developments, which are divided by the highway, will be a pedestrian and vehicle bridge. Designed by Raleigh-based Cline Design Associates, the center will feature tower structures as well as black awnings in the center of the development.
About 1,300 jobs will take part in the center's construction, and CBL executives predict that 2,200 full-time and part-time employees will work in its stores.
DDR currently has $750 million worth of centers under development, from coast-to-coast. The Cleveland-based company currently owns about 470 centers in 44 states and Puerto Rico.
Cary, NC-based 1st Carolina Properties is currently building six projects in the Carolina states. The company currently owns eight open-air properties in the region and has developed dozens.
