"Employers have indicated a growing need for people with these skills, and we have seen a consistent number of job openings in the lending area," said Walsh College Vice President Beth Barnes who manages the Walsh human resources office as well as the student career services center.

The Certificate in Commercial Lending may also be used for advanced standing toward the MBA or MSF graduate degree programs or non-degree graduate certification. Admission requires at least a bachelor's degree with a course in financial accounting or equivalent principles of accounting and two years of work experience. Individuals without an undergraduate degree may enroll in the five courses on an audit basis.

Five classes are required for the certificate: Financial Statement Analysis; Bank and Financial Institution Management; Financial Management; Credit Analysis and Commercial Lending; and Investments.
