HCA Adding New In-Patient Tower

SAN JOSE, CA-Publicly traded HCA Inc. of Nashville enters a $74-million contract with Skanska USA Building for development of a 138,000-sf tower at the Regional Medical Center of San Jose.

SAN JOSE, CA-HCA Inc. of Nashville is gearing up to add a in-patient tower at its Regional Medical Center of San Jose. The publicly traded healthcare company has inked a $74-million contract for the project with Skanska USA Building.In addition to the 138,000-sf tower, the includes approximately 24,000 sf of renovations to an existing structure. Work on the site will commence in August. Completion is set for May 2008. HCA owns and operates about 280 hospitals and surgical clinics in 23 US states, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. In 2003, HCA reported revenues of $21.8 billion. Skanska USA Building is a New Jersey-based subsidiary of Sweden-based Skanska AB, which had 2004 sales equivalent to US$16.6 billion.HCA is one of Skanska’s largest and most frequent customers in the healthcare area. Currently, Skanska is building different hospital projects for HCA in seven US states.
