The design firm of HGA is providing engineering services and Knutson Construction Services is the contractor on the project. The ambulatory clinic is part of a $106-million proposal it has before the Health Department. Pending legislative approval, Fairview hopes to build a 120-bed hospital complete with emergency and trauma services on the Fairview Maple Grove Health Care Campus. The hospital and campus will have the potential to expand to 284 beds.

Fairview Health Services recently appointed Mary Bakken senior vice president and has put her in charge of leading the development of the Fairview Maple Grove Health Care Campus. Fairview is one of three providers competing to be chosen to build a Maple Grove hospital that would serve the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities. Fairview says it is the only one that can have a hospital under construction in the next 12 months, and the one that would provide the broadest array of services.

The choice appears likely to go through a process that will be supervised by the Minnesota Department of Health. A bill was recently passed in the Minnesota Senate that authorizes construction of a new hospital in Maple Grove and creates an impartial process through the Department of Health for selecting among three competing hospital proposals.
