Company Plans $95M Ethanol Plant

MARYSVILLE, MI-The fuel ethanol plant will be built on a 230-acre site at 2510 Busha Hwy. owned by Marysville Hydrocarbons Inc. It will require $40 million worth of corn each year from predominately local growers.

MARYSVILLE, MI-Marysville Ethanol plans to construct a $95-million fuel ethanol plant on a portion on a 230-acre site currently owned by Marysville Hydrocarbons Inc., at 2510 Busha Hwy. Subject to approval of state and local incentives being requested, construction of the plant will begin late this year for a 16-month period.

The plant will produce more than 50 million gallons of fuel ethanol ayear and purchase approximately $40 million worth of corn each year from predominately local growers. The plant will require approximately 18 million bushels of corn per year, which is the annual yield of over 120,000 acres of farmland.

The governor, the mayor and city manager of Marysville have already endorsed the project. “The positive impacts are numerous including direct benefit to the local agricultural community as a large outlet for corn sales, diversifying our economic base, 45 well paying permanent jobs and substantial tax base to support community services,” city manager Jack Schumacher says.
