NORFOLK, VA-The Bank of Hampton Roads has signed a deal for 24,000 sf at the 436,000-sf Dominion Tower for its local headquarters. For the bank, which is a division of Hampton Roads Bankshares Inc., the space will mark its 17th location in the area and will house many of the bank's executive offices, administrative operations, as well as a full-service bank branch. The bank's Greenbrier headquarters office will remain open and will undergo a renovation.

A class A office property with an attached eight-level parking facility, the 26-story Dominion Tower at 999 Waterside Dr. was developed in 1987 and sits within proximity to I-264. No specific information on the bank's lease transaction with property owner Harbor Group International LLC has been released.

Class A office space in the Hampton Roads area--which encompasses Norfolk, as well Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg--goes for anywhere from $15.50 to $24 per sf, according to NAI Harvey Lindsey Commercial Real Estate Services. The Bank of Hampton Roads plans to open its new locale early this fall.
