Restaurant Supplier Uses 10-Year-Plus Pact to Break Into Houston

HOUSTON-Restaurant Depot ends a six-month search with a 75,000-sf lease in a 109,000-sf shuttered Kmart. The membership-only wholesaler will open in September, the first of several locations planned for the city.

HOUSTON-Wholesaler Restaurant Depot has leased 75,000 of a 109,000-sf Kmart store for its first location in the city. The affiliate of College Point, NY-based Jetro Cash & Carry Enterprises Inc.’s deal extends more than a decade.

Restaurant Depot took space at 1431 W. 20th St. The store will open in September. “This is a new concept to Houston,” says John Ferruzzo, a principal with NAI Houston. “Houston is one of the big cities that Restaurant Depot has been targeting for awhile.”
