With the land acquisition, Ewing Irrigation now owns nearly nine contiguous acres at the intersection of University Drive and 36th Street. The company plans to build a 70,000-sf to 100,000-sf corporate headquarters facility on the acreage, according to James Wilson, a senior director with Cushman & Wakefield of Arizona Inc. Partnering with Michael Beall and Kathy Gibbs, he represented Ewing Irrigation in the acquisition. Rick Lee of Lee & Associates Arizona bargained for the seller.

Wilson tells GlobeSt.com that Ewing Irrigation, now operating out of a 25,000-sf building at 3441 E. Harbour Dr., owned the adjacent 4.2-acre tract for roughly 10 years. "They planned to build on the land, but over the years they just got too big to fit on the land they had," Wilson explains. "We made offers on the adjacent land many times and the owner always said 'no,' but finally they said 'yes.'" He expects Ewing Irrigation will break ground within 12 months.
