The Klee Building, on the north side of Irving Park Road and bounded by Cicero and Milwaukee avenues, is part of a 64-unit condominium project that includes 20,000 sf of retail space. Inland Real Estate Corp.'s 117,000-sf Marketplace at Six Corners in the 4600 block of Irving Park Road, anchored by a Jewel Food store, is 100% occupied.
However, city officials report it takes an average of 3 minutes, 25 seconds for the 90,000 vehicles a day to get through the Portage Park intersection, created by the diagonal Milwaukee Avenue crossing the east-west, north-south streets. The grant through the federal Transportation Equity Act will add a right-turn lane from southbound Cicero on to Irving Park and Milwaukee Avenue. Improvements are expected to cut the waiting time for traffic through the intersection by 40%.
