"We opened on time, and just in time to cool off our guests from the recent early summer heat wave," says Zehnder's of Frankenmuth chairman and CEO Al Zehnder. "We believe that our waterpark will be a terrific year-round destination. It's close to home for many of our guests."

The hotel has 63 new hotel suites with fireplaces, whirlpools and can accommodate four to eight guests. A new 125-seat restaurant, Elf Hollow Cafe, is also part of the complex, as is a 2,000-sf video game arcade.

The design/build team included Water Technology Inc. of Beaver Dam, WI; Architectural Design Consultants of Lake Delton, WI; and the California-based design firm NatureMaker. The general contractor was Wolgast Construction of Saginaw.

According to the community's website, the Bavarian-themed town of Frankenmuth, 90 miles north of Detroit, draws more than three million visitors each year. Zehnder also owns the Fortress Golf Course in Frankenmuth and its 1,500-seat restaurant Downtown.
