$14M Hotel, Waterpark Opens in Frankenmuth

FRANKENMUTH, MI-Zehnder, developer of Fortress Golf Course, expands its operations here with the opening of a new hotel/water park. This Bavarian-themed town, 90 miles north of Detroit, is said to draw more than three million visitors each year.

FRANKENMUTH, MI-A new $14-million hotel in one of Michigan’s most popular tourist destinations has opened–along with an adjoining indoor water park. Zehnder opened the 30,000-sf Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark in the 152-room hotel over the weekend here. The hotel and splash park are located next to Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland.

“We opened on time, and just in time to cool off our guests from the recent early summer heat wave,” says Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth chairman and CEO Al Zehnder. “We believe that our waterpark will be a terrific year-round destination. It’s close to home for many of our guests.”

The hotel has 63 new hotel suites with fireplaces, whirlpools and can accommodate four to eight guests. A new 125-seat restaurant, Elf Hollow Cafe, is also part of the complex, as is a 2,000-sf video game arcade.
