3M plans to complete the two-story office building, going up on the north side of 3M's corporate headquarters campus near the corner of Minnehaha Avenue and McKnight Road, in the third quarter of next year.
The customer center will feature product application labs--essentially market research-related work, in which the company will invite in small groups of consumers to meet with 3M staff to discuss products. The adjoining Leadership Development Institute will house 3M's leadership training and development programs. The Maplewood Planning Commission approved 3M's proposal earlier this year, which required a conditional-use permit.
