"This first-of-its-kind site will be the only destination for coordinated information from multiple city and state agencies on issues of importance to New Yorkers," says Charles Maikish, executive director of the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center. "It's an aggressive initiative by the city to transform a standard government website into a consumer-targeted, interactive resource for its residents." Maikish was selected earlier this year to oversee all construction projects in the downtown area.
The site offers real-time construction updates and an interactive map with information on every project below Canal Street. Users can glimpse Lower Manhattan's future with visualizations of developments. The areas of navigation include rebuilding spotlight, project updates, getting around, doing business, residents' corner, and looking ahead. To access the site, click here.
