MINNEAPOLIS-Kuhlman Co. said it has opened two new stores, one in New York City and the other in Omaha, NE. The Minneapolis-based specialty retailer of men's and women's clothing said it has opened its second Manhattan retail store location at 79 West 12th St. and a new store in Omaha that opened Friday.
The two new stores bring the company's total number of stores to 33 stores in 16 states.The second store in New York City is a new location in Greenwich Village, a location that the company expects will both significantly outperform its average location in terms of sales and contribution and will also serve to enhance its "image and competitive position as a high-value retailer of contemporary, tailored fashion for style-conscious young men and women."
The company has been satisfied with the results for its first Manhattan store, which opened recently in Rockefeller Center. Scott Kuhlman, the company's chief executive officer, said that he believes his chain fills "a void in the market" for fashion that offers "an excellent value proposition."
The company said it plans to open at least 25 new locations this year. Kuhlman sells its own brand of clothing through company-owned retail stores and under private labels through other large retailers. Kuhlman opened its first retail store two years ago. Of its 33 stores, six stores are a woman's specialty boutique format.
