NOBLESVILLE, IN-This city 30 miles north of Indianapolis will be gaining a 950,000-sf regional shopping center if plans by Simon Property Group Inc. come to fruition. The Indianapolis-based public company says it hopes to have Hamilton Town Center open for business in the fall of 2007. The 100-acre development site is situated adjacent to the City of Noblesville's corporate campus, between the north side of Interstate 69's Exit 10 interchange and a soon-to-be realigned and widened 146th Street. If all goes as planned, the center will be filled with local and nationally recognized retailers and restaurants in an open-air "Main Street" environment.A source at Simon tells GlobeSt.com that although it has no firm tenant commitments for the property, "our developers talked about this project [at the International Council of Shopping Centers conference] in Las Vegas and the reception was really strong. I would anticipate that in the next several months we will have some nice names to announce."Simon plans to develop Hamilton Town Center in partnership with Gershman Brown & Associates, an Indianapolis-area developer that includes former Simon employees. Gershman Brown COO Tom Crowley says the development is an opportunity to turn the City of Noblesville and Hamilton County into an upscale retail destination while serving a large portion of the Indianapolis metropolitan market. Simon owns 30 retail developments in its home state, including 16 community/lifestyle centers, 12 regional malls and two outlet centers. Nationally, it owns or has an interest in 295 properties. Simon also holds interests in 52 shopping centers in France, Italy, Poland and Portugal as well as five Premium Outlet centers in Japan, another in Mexico and one shopping center in Canada.
