"This is a big deal for the Valley," says Kevin Calihan, a vice president with CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s local office. "The expansion brings 800 new jobs to Phoenix." He and CBRE executive vice president Tom Adelson represented the Monrovia, CA-based eTelecare Global Solutions. Macerich Co. of Santa Monica, CA had in-house broker Steve Steuck in the REIT's Westcor division doing its negotiations for the entire second floor of the 626,000-sf retail center at 1801 E. Camelback Rd.

Calihan tells GlobeSt.com that eTelecare Global Solutions had several options, but eventually picked Camelback Colonnade because of its location and amenities. "They were looking for an existing call center with heavy parking and a central location to draw employees from across the Valley," he says.

The call center space was emptied in July 2004 by 10-year tenant, MCI Communications Corp. of Clinton, MS. The new lease includes exclusive rights to an adjacent 500-car parking structure.

The call center company was formed in May 2004 when Philippines-based eTelecare International acquired Phase 2 Solutions Inc. of Scottsdale. As part of the takeover, eTelcare inherited a 55,000-sf call center, which is staying in place at 4611 E. Baseline Rd. in Phoenix.
