"The company works with the government in several other Texas cities and was just awarded the contract for Houston," says Travis Land, an associate with NAI Houston. The government contractor plans to move into 3901 Airline Dr. in early July.

Land says the 1960s-vintage building, which is part of a five-building complex, has been vacant nearly two years. It was on the market for roughly $3 per sf.

Land tells GlobeSt.com that the firm searched about one month before settling on the Airline Drive building. "They were looking for a freestanding building for security reasons and needed outside storage," he explains, adding the just-signed deal provides an acre of storage. The firm also needed to be located within 20 miles of Downtown Houston.

According to Land, Rod Robertson decided to lease the building in February, but the contract was put on hold for several months until the firm finalized its government contract. "They didn't want to commit to a lease until they had a signed contract," he explains.

Land teamed with NAI principal John Ferruzzo to represent the local building owner, Tapper Investments of Houston. Darren O'Conor, also with NAI Houston, handled talks for Rob Robertson Enterprises.
