American Apparel Grows in Manhattan

NEW YORK CITY-Los Angeles-based American Apparel will have nine stores here now that that the casual retailer has inked two deals for space. In one, the company signed a 10-year lease at 1841 Broadway for 3,100 sf. In the other transaction, the company agreed to a shorter sublet at 160 W 26th Street for 3,600 sf.

Both spaces include large mezzanines for retail sales. Terms of the transactions were not released. American Apparel already operates seven other stores here.John Brod, Laura Pomerantz and Devon Binns of PBS Realty Advisors represented the retailer in both transactions. PBS principal John Brod says Columbus Circle and Chelsea are “prime store locations for the company. And as more real estate opportunities surface in the City, American Apparel is in a position to take advantage of them.”
