ORLANDO-St. Louis-based Anheuser Busch Corp., parent of SeaWorld, plans to break ground in 2006 on a $100-million, 59-acre water park that will compete head-on with rival Universal Orlando’s nearby Wet ‘n Wild attraction on International Drive, hospitality industry sources in a position to know tell GlobeSt.com.

Walt Disney World, about 12 miles south of SeaWorld, has two competing water parks–the 50-acre Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and the 66-acre Blizzard Beach opened in 1995.

Anheuser Busch officials have filed brief conceptual plans with the Orange County Planning Department and expect to disclose details by October, the company confirms to GlobeSt.com. The new attraction would be SeaWorld’s first since opening the 30-acre Discovery Cove in 2000.
