Walgreens' June Sales Soar

DEERFIELD, IL-Walgreen Co.'s Junes sales ring up at $3.5 million--a 12% increase from the same period last year.

DEERFIELD, IL-Reporting an increase of 12% in June sales, Walgreen Co. pulled in $3.5 million versus $3.12 million for the same month in 2004, with comparable store sales rising 7.8%.

According to the company, pharmacy sales accounted for 65% of total sales for the month, which increased 11.8%. Comparable pharmacy sales increased 8.2%, while total prescriptions filled at comparable stores increased 6.5%.

Calendar year-to-date sales were $21.25 million–an increase of 13.3% from $18.75 million in 2004. Fiscal year-to-date sales for the past 10 months were $35.2 million, up 12.8% from $31.2 million during the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the fiscal year-to-date increased 8.5%, and comparable store front-end sales increased 7% during June.
