PORTLAND-Mayor Tom Potter recently appointed Sal Kadri as a commissioner to the Portland Development Commission, the city’s urban renewal and economic development agency.Kadri, owner of ValueCAD, a Portland-based information technology, geographic information system and computer-assisted drafting company, will replace Janice Wilson, whose three-year term expires July 31. His term will begin Aug. 1 and his first official Commission meeting will be Aug. 10. The PDC board of commissioners oversees the city’s economic development agency, which focuses on neighborhood revitalization, housing and job creation. In February, Potter appointed Bertha Ferran to the board. Ferran, a native of Cuba, is a senior mortgage consultant with Windermere Mortgage Services. Ferran has spent much of her career working on affordable housing issues. In April, he nominated Mark Rosenbaum, a financial planner and long-time community activist in children’s issues.Kadri, who lives in Lake Oswego, established ValueCAD in 1990. It has since grown from three to 32 employees. Before striking out on his own, Kadri was associated with Tektronix Inc. and General Electric Co. for over 30 years in a variety of Engineering and Management positions.
