The Compuware building is across from the park on Woodward Avenue. The park is located on Woodward Avenue between Fort Street and Michigan Avenue. The 1.6-acre park is a "legacy" gift to the city of Detroit from the Detroit 300 Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that has raised over $20 million to design, construct and operate the park through business, foundations and individual donations.
"Campus Martius Park was designed to be a gathering place for the entire metro Detroit area," said Bob Gregory, executive director of Detroit 300 Conservancy. "To be recognized by the community we wished to please is an honor."
Other award winners included the Ferris State University Granger Center in Big Rapids, MI for its renovation and addition; the Ford Rouge Center site revitalization in Dearborn, MI; the Rapid Central Station, a bus terminal in Detroit; the south tower addition at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI; and the renovation of the Hill Auditorium at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
