The overall architect is Elness Swenson Graham Architects, who worked with architect Close Landscape Architecture. The American Institute of Architects recently awarded the project an Institute Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design, an award that recognizes projects for a combination of urban design, city planning and community development.
The master plan, which is expected to take about three to five years to build out, consists of a retail area that could be up to 700,000 sf, more than 2,400 units of mid- to high-density housing, and 460,000 sf of office, medical and civic space.
Solomon Real Estate Group of Eden Prairie is developing the first phase of the shopping center portion of the project, which will be anchored by Coborn Superstore, Grocery & Car Wash, a food retailer based in St. Cloud. The 62,000-sf store is under construction with Shingobee Builders of Loretto as the general contractor and RSP Architects of Minneapolis as the project architect. The store is expected to open this fall. This first retail phase also would provide for 35,000 sf planned for retail and restaurant space.
The city council recently awarded Adolfson & Peterson Construction the bid for the new parking ramp at the new Ramsey municipal center that is part of Ramsey Town Center.
