MINNEAPOLIS-After serving a collective 30 years for CB Richard Ellis, the three-person industrial team of Peter Mork, Steven Nilsson and Jason Simek has regrouped under the NAI Welsh banner. Mork, who most recently served as a first vice president with CBRE, tells GlobeSt.com that moving from a large-scale brokerage house to a local company will prove beneficial to the industrial team.

Mork, who has "nothing but good things to say about CB," says the team will be better served with the new firm primarily because the team is not going out of state with its clients. "CB is more focused on the corporate clients, where Welsh is more localized and focused on the broker," Mork says.

"Welsh's platform focuses on brokers--for brokers--and they give us great latitude on servicing clients," Mork, a 16-year veteran of CBRE, tells GlobeSt.com. "Welsh is less restrictive on marketing and on budgetary items, which help us to fully market listings and help in client development."

According to Mork, Welsh approached the industrial team after recognizing the synergy among the three brokers. When asked if CB Richard Ellis was surprised by the announcement, Mork responded, "I imagine that it came as a surprise. We told them; they didn't tell us." Bryan Van Hoof, vice president with CB Richard Ellis' industrial brokerage services--who worked with the team prior to the transition--could not comment on the department's loss to a competitor.

Mork will assume the role as senior vice president with Welsh, specializing in the sale and leasing of industrial properties in the Twin-Cities Metro area. Throughout the past 24 months, Mork boasts a lease rate of 1.5 million sf totaling $48 million in consideration within the Twin-Cities marketplace.

Nilsson and Simek will serve as vice presidents at NAI Welsh. Additionally, 16-year veteran Richard Friedrichs joins NAI Welsh from the C. Chase Co. In the recent past, Friedrichs has represented the Luther Automotive Group, Ralph Burnet and GE Capital. Twin Cities-based Welsh, an affiliate of NAI, operates regional offices in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Chicago and Columbus, OH.
