"By having all of our divisions located in one office, we are better able to serve our customers in North America," says Harald Gruebel, vice president of MBtech's North American electronics division. Gruebel attributed the move to rapid growth within the young company. Previously, the company utilized a set of regional offices but decided a formal headquarters was proper after seeing "unprecedented growth."

Founded in 1995, as part of what was then DaimlerBenz, MBTech came to North America in February 2003 with five employees. Today, it has more than 100 people, in Michigan, Alabama, New Jersey, Texas and Oregon.

The MBtech Group develops and tests components and systems for vehicles and drive units and has an annual revenue of about $11 million. About 20 of MBtech's employees are expected to take up space at the Troy headquarters.
