Life Time To Open Centers in Illinois and Texas

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-The fitness chain is expected to add another center this year in Columbia, MD and already is well along in its plans to open seven more next year, including one in Utah, which is a new market for the company.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-Life Time Fitness said this week that it is opening two new centers early next month–in Romeoville, IL and Austin, TX–on its way to adding six centers this year. The company already has opened new centers in Commerce Township, MI; Cinco Ranch, TX; and Chanhassen, MN. The final center is expected to open late this year in Columbia, MD.

The two new centers will bring the company’s total to 44 centers in seven states: Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. Life Time Fitness plans to open seven centers next year and has already chosen sites, acquired the land and begun the entitlement processes, says Anthony Gikas, a securities analyst who follows the company for Minneapolis-based Piper Jaffray. The two already announced by the company are centers in Allen, TX and South Jordan, UT. Gikas expects the company to open eight new centers in 2007.
