MIDDLE RIVER, MD-A 100-unit affordable senior housing property, the 94,000-sf Parkview at Miramar apartment building is being developed as a public-private endeavor between Shelter Development LLC and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. The property will cost an estimated $9.2 million to complete.

"As the population of senior citizens grows in Baltimore County and across the state, it is more important than ever to provide safe and affordable housing opportunities that enable Maryland's seniors to live full and productive lives in homes close to work, schools and places of worship," says Victor L. Hoskins, DHCD secretary. The Eastern Baltimore County property sits in the Glenmar neighborhood of Middle River.

The apartment is part of Miramar Landing, a housing compound that will also include townhomes and 156 single-family residences. The entire project is a redevelopment of the former 1940s-era Villa Gardens, a 1,000-unit temporary housing compound.
