Bath & Body Works, which operates 1,569 units, had the strongest results, posting a 9% same-store sales gain. Limited's 993 Victoria's Secret units also had favorable results, gaining 8%.
Meanwhile, the company's 801 Express stores reported a 12% same-store sales drop.Limited's 1,117 flagship stores fell 2%.
Limited is working on expanding some of its brands that don't currently have large store counts. Executives are looking to add six units to its C.O. Bigelow apothecary chain in the Boston, Chicago and New York City. Limited operates two Bigelows, one in Manhattan and one in Columbus' Easton Town Center.
The company is also looking for sites for its Henri Bendel fashion concept. Limited currently operates two of those stores, one in Manhattan and one in Easton Town Center.
For the full year, Limited executives say they expect flat same-store sales, down from mid-single digit increases that were previously projected. They say that capital expenditures for the full year will fall between $550 million and $575 million.
