LAKEVILLE, MN-Kowalski's Markets opened an upscale grocery store this week as part of Lakeville Crossing, the fourth new grocery store to open in this city in the last three years.

The Woodbury-based grocery chain anchors Lakeville Crossing, a 75,000-sf neighborhood shopping center at the intersection of County Highway 23 and County Highway 46. Paster Enterprises, based in St. Paul, developed Lakeville Crossing. Kowalski's Markets, an upscale grocery chain at 7590 160th St. W., occupies about half of the center.

Kowalski's joins a host of grocery stores that have opened in the fast-growing suburb on the southern edge of the Twin Cities. Among others to open grocery stores in the last several years includes Rainbow Foods, SuperTarget, and Cub Foods. They join the longstanding Enggren's Market.

The city, which has a population of about 50,000, is projected to grow to 76,000 by the year 2020. Kowalski's, which opened a store in Oak Park Heights, MN in June, said its Lakeville location features an array of natural and organic products. The store is its ninth store in the Twin Cities. Other tenants in Lakeville Crossing include Carbone's Pizza, Edina Realty, Gymboree and Penzey Spices, according to Paster Enterprises.
