Wayne State University Opens $51M-Plus Residence Hall

DETROIT-Wayne State, historically known for being a commuter school, will open a new residence hall on Monday. The most recent hall marks the third student-residence to open on campus within the past four years.

DETROIT-With students back to school, Wayne State University has opened its third residence hall. Students begin moving in to the 900-bed, $51.5-million Towers Residential Suites on Monday. Five years ago, Wayne State University was strictly a commuter university. Since that time, the university has opened two other 900-bed residence halls and now the third is open. All three are located on Anthony Wayne Drive on the university’s midtown Detroit campus.

The 11-story Towers Residential Suites option of living in a one-, two-, three- or four-bedroom suite, with a shared living space and private baths. The building will house sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate, professional, medical and law students. The building also features a 400-person cafe-style dining facility and kitchenettes, as well as social and study lounges on each floor.
