Catanzaro, most recently general manager of Hilton Atlanta Northeast, also will be responsible for expanding the Dow Hotel Company's signature Basil's Restaurant concept and assisting in the transition process following new acquisitions. Prior to joining Dow, Catanzaro was SVP of sales & marketing for French Quarter Hospitality Management and, prior to that, was vice president of sales & marketing for The Melrose Hotel Company.

"We now have reached the size and distribution to build our bench strength with an eye to preparing for our planned future growth in the ownership and management of upscale, full-service hotels," said Dow Hotel president Murray Dow in a prepared statement. "Ernie brings a proven track record of impacting top line revenues and bringing those revenues to the bottom line, while consistently delivering outstanding guest satisfaction."

In addition to Catanzaro's promotion, Frank Rodriguez was hired as general manager of the Doubletree Hotel Bellevue, where he will be responsible for directing the renovation and repositioning of the hotel to the Hilton brand. Rodriguez was most recently regional director of operations for Kimpton Hotel Group. His career includes international resort assignments in St. Thomas, Aruba, Jamaica and Toronto, as well as several conversion and new hotel opening assignments in the United States.

Dow acquired the Doubletree Hotel Bellevue from Hilton Hotels Corp. earlier this month for $48.5 million, giving it a local asset to show off to visiting investors. In addition to refurbishing all hotel rooms and meeting space, a company source confirms for GlobeSt.com that the improvements will include renovation of the large portico on the exterior of the hotel, replace the current restaurant (Atrium Grill) with a Starbucks, and construct a new 150-seat restaurant in an area that currently serves as the hotel's catering area. The renovation should be complete in nine months.

The Dow Hotel Company's portfolio of owned and managed properties includes institutional grade hotels under such brands as Marriott, Hilton, Embassy Suites, Sheraton, Radisson, Crowne Plaza, and Doubletree. The Bellevue property is the fourth recent addition to the company's West Coast expansion plan, which began with the acquisition of The Crowne Plaza Portland in Oregon, and continued with the management assignment for a 565-room hotel in downtown San Francisco, which is being renovated and re-branded as a Hilton, and management of the Marriott Anaheim Suites Hotel.
